The consumption of alcoholic beverages during pregnancy freely passes through the placenta and onto your unborn baby. Drinking alcohol increases the chance of your baby being born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder where the effects are irreversible and life long. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder can be prevented. There is no known safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy.
