Description

Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. The Food and Drug Administration has labeled clindamycin as a Category B for safety during pregnancy. This means that studies in pregnant women have not shown an increase in risk to the fetus. However, you should consult with your doctor, dentist, or health care provider about the possible risks and benefits of using clindamycin. Clindamycin passes into breast milk and while there are no reports of harm to nursing infants, it is highly recommended to consult your doctor before breastfeeding. Updated: 07.27.14
