In some studies, agricultural pesticides/insecticides have shown that the greatest risk of exposure is during the first three to eight weeks of the first trimester. This is when the neural type is developing. Some journals have reported associations between these pesticides and birth defects, pregnancy complications and miscarriages. It is recommended that if you discover you are pregnant you should remove yourself to avoid exposure to these chemicals.
Call your poison center at (800) 222-1222 immediately if a pesticide comes in contact with your skin, is inhaled, or is swallowed. Try to have the pesticide container with you when you call. Updated: 04.19.18
