Teeth Whitening is considered an elective dental treatment and is recommended to be postponed until after the birth of your baby. There have not been enough studies to give conclusive evidence that whitening or bleaching your teeth while pregnant can be harmful to your baby. The peroxide used in whitening and bleaching agents can be harmful to tissues and cells, but again, enough evidence has not been gathered to decide if it is harmful to the baby. Therefore, it is advised to consult your dentist whether or not to use teeth whitening products. Updated: 01.31.12
