Generally, traveling by air is considered safe for pregnant women. Airlines allow pregnant women to travel through their eighth month of pregnancy. However, traveling during the ninth month is allowed when there is permission from you physician.
Some things to remember and consider while traveling by air: aisles are narrow and your balance is off, make sure you are using the seat backs for balance while walking through the plane; choose an aisle seat for easier access to the bathroom and more leg room; travel on major airline carriers with pressurized cabins and avoid smaller private planes that fly at altitudes above 7,000 feet.
During travel, carry a copy of your health records with you and drink plenty of bottled water. You should talk with your physician about the potential risks of flying. Updated: 04.27.17
